Oracle – Customizing Help Hello, my name is Barbara. In this tutorial, I'll show you how to add and edit help in a help window. A help window provides info on how to use a specific page or a part of the page. Let's go to the page where we want to customize help. [No Audio: The user selects the My Team icon, then the New Person icon, then the Hire an Employee link] I must turn on the help icons that are used to open help windows. We use this link on any help window to start customizing. [No Audio: The user turns on the Help icon, then selects the Help icon next to Persona Details, then Manage Custom Help link, then the Create button] First, I want to add my own custom help in the help window. In this case, I'm adding a short FAQ, so I'll select text to get a text editor and FAQ as the help type. [No Audio: The user selects Text from the Source drop-down menu, the selects FAQ from the Help Type drop-down menu] The question for my FAQ is the topic title or link text that'll appear on the help window. Keywords will help users find my FAQ, and the description gives them a summary of the FAQ before they open it up. Finally, we enter the FAQ answer in the text editor. [No Audio: The user fills out the Topic Title, Keywords, and Description fields and adds the answer to the question in the text area.] Now we see my FAQ in the help window and also in the help site with other FAQs. Aside from adding custom help, we can also edit existing help. I want to delete the last two sections because they don't apply to my company. [No Audio: The user deletes the last two sections with the text editor, then clicks Save and Close] Now we see that the sections are gone, but I can always revert back to the original. [No Audio: The user clicks the Manage Custom Help link, selects the customized version, then selects the delete button. A Warning pops up and the user selects Yes to continue. The user selects the original FAQ, then selects Active, then Save and Close] Behind the scenes, we actually created a custom version of the existing help, which was automatically inactivated. I can just delete my custom version and activate the original. That's it. Thank you.
