Oracle – Exploring Work Areas Hello, my name's Paul. In this tutorial, I'll show you how to get started using work areas. A work area is a set of pages with everything I need to accomplish a business goal. [No Audio: User selects an About Me icon, then selects the Expenses icon] Let's go to a work area now. Most work areas have simplified pages, which make it easier to do work on any device. [No Audio: User is on the Travel and Expenses page, the Expense Items, Expense Reports, Approvals, and Cash Advances tiles are highlighted] In this example, we have a row of info tiles. Each tile gives us key info about a specific business object, and determines what records we get below. [No Audio: User selects the down arrow button on the Expense Reports tile] We can also use the links to filter the records for the info tile. [No Audio: User selects the cash link in the Expense Items tile, then selects a specific Hotel record] In most work areas, I can drill down from the first page, to a specific record. Some pages have tabs on the left to take us to another page in the work area, or in this case, to other parts of the same page. Some pages have tabs on the right, that give us additional tools for doing our work. For example, we can find more tasks related to this work area. Now, let's check out another work area, with simplified pages. [No Audio: User selects the main menu and then the My Team link. User then toggles between the grid and list view] On this page, we can toggle between this grid view or list view of the same records. With either view, I can open up and edit any of the records, or select the action I want to take from here. [No Audio: User selects a down arrow on the far right side of a record, which reveals a drop-down menu. ] You might also find some work areas with desktop pages, which are suitable for long, complex tasks. Desktop pages often have this area on the left that I can hide or show. What I do in this left area, affects what's in the main area, where I do my work. For example, if we select a task, a new page opens up in the work area, and I can go ahead, and do my work. Thank you.
