Oracle – Promoting a Worker

Hello. My name is Cindy. In this tutorial I am an HR specialist 
and I will be showing you how to promote a worker. Stacy Kaufman 
is an instructor in the learning US department. Her manager just 
requested for her to be promoted to the director of learning. 
Let's search for Stacy so we can do her promotion.

[No Audio: User enters “Kaufman” into the name field of the 
Search Person section]

Here I find Stacy as the instructor of the learning US 
department. In order to do the promotion I need to manage her 
employment. 

[No Audio: User selects the Manage Employment link]

Since I am promoting her I need to select update as I'm going to 
be creating a new employment record for her. 

[No Audio: User selects Edit revealing a drop down menu, then 
selects Update]

If I choose correct it would replace her current employment and 
I don't want to erase her history. The promotion is due to her 
good performance. 

I'll be promoting Stacy from an instructor to a director of 
learning. I need to change Stacy's grade as the job has a higher 
grade. I don't need to change Stacy's manager as she'll be 
reporting to Matt Wagner until Matt gets his promotion next 
quarter. Let's review.

This popup is showing that Stacy is automatically being assigned 
a manager role due to her new position as a director. Now that 
Stacy's promotion is complete, I need to enter a salary increase 
for her. The salary increase is part of her promotion. 

Stacy's manager has suggested a 25% increase in pay. She wants 
her to get around a 10,000 increase in her pay. However, she 
wants to make sure that Stacy is not in the top quartile as she 
wants her to have room to grow. With 25% that puts Stacy in the 
first quartile with increases over 10,000. We can use the salary 
calculator to adjust salary in a few different ways to get our 
desired results. 

Let's try moving the percentage slider to see what a good 
percentage would be. It looks like around 23% is close. Let's 
just enter 10,000 and see where that puts her percentage-wise. 
Perfect, that gives her a 22.32% increase, gives her $10,000, 
and she's in the first quartile. 

Stacy's promotion has now been entered, however, it's not 
complete.
