DRAVYN K. Drayvn: I've been in DHS custody for about four or five years. Cathy: It is so important for Drayvn to be adopted so that he can achieve permanency. (NO AUDIO) Cathy Y. Adoption Transition Specialist Cathy: Dravyn's 14 years old. He's been in the system for several years now. He's got over 15 siblings. He's the last of his siblings to be adopted. He loves nature and he is Chickasaw. He fills very strongly about his Indian culture. Dravyn: I'm very interested in my heritage and I'd just like a family to walk through that with me. Cathy Y.: What you have to do when you look at Dravyn is see the potential. They have the potential to be anything, they just need someone to believe in them, give them some guidance, and help them along the way. Ideally if someone could be an only child or part of a smaller sibling group. But Dravyn would float well with either because he's been part of a large sibling group, so I think he could merge anywhere. I think he would prefer a single dad or maybe a family where there was a dad involved especially if he enjoyed the outdoors. If it was woman who enjoyed the outdoors I bet that would be fine, too. But I do think this experience has been really great for him. (CHEERING) Cathy Y.: Dravyn is one of the most polite 14-year-olds that I could ever hope to know. He makes it a point to open the door for me when I'm walking out of someplace or going into it. He doesn't cause any trouble. He doesn't get in fights at school. He doesn't run away from his placement. He's okay if he has other brothers and sisters. He's not a problem child at all. Male voices: Alright there's two! That is two kill shots right there! Female voice: Good job Drayvn! Drayvn: I've had a really good time today. It's really fun. I got a real passion for being outdoors and I guess being involved with it. Well I love hunting and stuff like that, bow fishing, fishing, all kinds of stuff. Well my favorite thing though to do is bow fish. It's kind of like fishing and hunting at the same time. I was with my uncle and we was cat fishing, and I kept on staring at this one pole but nothing ever hit it... all the other poles. So I left it for awhile before my grandpa watched it... I think it was 75 or 65 pound cat fish and well, it was a bluecat so, yeah. Cathy Y.: I think he wants to trust someone but it's going to take some effort for somebody to get that for him. But I think he really deeply wants a connection. I would just hope that someone could give him the attention that he needs, you know? And just a little push along the way to get to where he needs to go in life.
