SELF CARE APRIL 2015 - ONE STEP AT A TIME (MUSIC PLAYS) That moment when your posture settles lower to see your computer screen, and you feel that twinge at the base of your neck-- you realize you havenÆt moved in hours and your body is literally sick of being still. The swiftest step you can take to ease your pain is truly a step. Walk or move around the room you are in with your head up and shoulders back. A lap around the entire building could take less than five minutes but could make all the difference in how well you feel. A little stroll helps you recover, refresh and re-focus when you return to work. Intentional, brisk walking can add up to bigger health benefits. Fancy and simple pedometers are easily available to begin tracking your steps. The Mayo Clinic recommends starting with short-term goals like adding 1,000 steps per day per week-- building up to a long-term goal like 10,000 steps a day. The OK Health Program offers free one-on-one health coaching if you want to learn more. Take a step in the right direction and take time to take care. (MUSIC PLAYS)
