ALEXIS J. [MUSIC PLAYS] Scott S. Adoption Transition Unit Specialist Scott: Alexis is ten. She's going to be eleven this next year. One of the things that really makes Alexis awesome is she loves to play with other kids. She loves to get in, mix it up. She likes to have a lot of fun. She's big into games. She loves to be outside climbing trees. She's very much an outside kind of kid and enjoys things like that. Matter of fact, she's hoping this summer to start playing soccer. It's kind of a new thing for her. Alexis J. Age 10 Alexis: I'm good at sports and I'm really good at math. Some of my favorite things to do are swimming, playing soccer, and getting good exercise. Scott: I think with Alexis, one of the things that would be huge for her about tonight is getting to be in this environment and think about the possibility of what would it be like to be in a family? What if my family brought me to a Thunder game? I think for her there's a sense of this is a step forward to my future. Alexis: It was really awesome that all the players came out and played. Scott: For Alexis, adoption would mean a stable place but also a place where you can flourish, where she can try new things. She's very inquisitive, loves to learn new stuff, loves to try new things. I think with an adoptive family that would be willing to take her out, let her try new stuff, try new sports if its sports, or music, or art. Whatever it is, it's something that she can get out and really kind of spread her wings a little bit I think would be really huge for her in adoption. Alexis: I want a family so I can go to college and become a dancer. I love it because you get to dance in front of a bunch of people and I can believe that I can dance and do stuff on my own. Scott: Honestly, I think for Alexis, the importance what adoption would mean to her, why it's so important for her is not only the stability side, which that's pretty huge for any kid. Permanency, a kid needs that. I think for her, just that feeling of family. Alexis: The thing I want you to know about me is I'm kind. I'm sweet. I like to do stuff outside. Scott: If you're a family who's wanting a girl who is very nurturing, very loving ... She's very honest. If you ask her a question, she's going to tell you what she thinks, but she is a very affectionate child. She likes that family atmosphere, but she needs a family that's going to come around her, that's going to be there for her. She needs that. She needs a family that's going to step up to the plate and say "You know what? You can come be a part of our family. We'll surround you. We'll support you. We'll love you."
