BETH AND NORMAN L. (MUSIC PLAYS) Allison P. child Welfare Specialist Allison P: Beth is five about to turn six. Norman just turned five and they have been in DHS custody for three years. Beth is a little girly but at the same time a little tom-boyish. She loves the country, she loves being around animals - dogs, cats. But at the same time she likes to play with the Barbie dolls and she likes to dress up and get her hair done and paint her fingernails. Norman is the sweetest little boy you will ever meet. He is so kind-hearted and he loves cars. He get real excited when he sees cars. He loves Lightning McQueen. He's really smart, especially with his iPad, extremely smart. He can work an iPad better than any five-year-old that I've ever seen. Beth is very much the big sister. She likes to take care of him and make sure that he's safe. And Norman looks up to Beth, he... they do have that sibling rivalry in the sense that if Beth has something that Norman wants then they may argue and vice versa. They're going to have days where they're going to fight but then at the same time, they're going to have days where they just love on each other and they're always going to be there for each other. Beth and Norman have been separated for six months now and they haven't see each other in that time due to the distance between Beth's foster home and where Norman is currently at. They had to be separated because of Norman's higher level of medical needs that he requires. Female: That was so loud! Allison P: They need to be adopted together because that's the only family they have. They just have each other. There's no other relatives, so they need to keep that sibling connection. They need to know who they are and who they were before they came into DHS custody. Norman will require ongoing medical attention. There are surgeries that's going to require him to maybe be hospitalized and so a lot of attention is going to be focused on Norman, but Beth also needs her own attention as well. She needs her time to shine and her time to just let people know how special she is as well. Don't be afraid of Norman's physical disabilities. I feel like a lot of people get scared of that because it is a lot of work and it is going to require a lot of attention but he's worth it. And Norman and Beth together are worth that attention and worth those extra steps to ensure that they're going to be taken care of. Norman is just like any other little kid. Because if he sees a little kid running, he's going to run. If he sees a little kid riding a bike, he's going to ride a bike. Just because he has the physical disabilities, give him a chance because you will fall in love with him and when you see Norman and Beth together you can't help but want to open up your home to them. Both Norman and Beth deserve that forever home - a place that they can call their own. Unfortunately they have been bounced around a little bit so they don't have that permanent connection to anyone. Beth and Norman could complete anyone's family. They're so sweet and so kind. They're great kids who need a mom and a dad who they know that they can turn to who's going to be there for them no matter what.
