CHILD CARE WEEKLY AUTHORIZATION In this video you will learn how to code a weekly authorization. In the eligibility notebook, on the Auth. Day Care tab, begin with the field labeled PERSON NAME. Click on the drop-down menu and select the child for which you are authorizing care. In this example we will select "Mindy". Go to the contract number field, enter the CONTRACT NUMBER and hit "TAB" on the keyboard. The computer will then automatically update the TYPE OF CARE and ACTION TAKEN fields. In the reason field select the approved activity from the dropdown menu, in this example the reason is "FOR CARETAKER TO RETAIN EMPLOYMENT". In the CHILD CARE REQUEST DATE enter the application date. In the BEGIN/CHANGE DATE, enter the date all verification was provided or a future date if care is not needed immediately. No entries are needed in the CLIENT CO-PAYMENT, CO-PAYMENT EFFECTIVE DATE and REVIEW DATE fields. The system will automatically update these fields when the case is saved. No entry is needed in the END DATE field. In the PRIMARY UNIT TYPE field box, under UNIT TYPE 1 (Daycare Plan), click on the drop-down menu and select WEEKLY; in the NUMBER OF UNITS field, click on the dropdown menu and select "5 DAYS PER WEEK". Keep in mind when coding weekly, the 5 is an old code that has not been removed from the system. It does not represent the number of days care is needed. The final field that has to be addressed is the NOTICE INDICATOR, click on the dropdown menu and select "APPLICATION APPROVAL". An authorization must be completed for each child needing care. Something helpful to remember is when your authorization tab is completed click on the "ACTIONS" option in the tool bar, hover over CASE CHECK and click on CHECK TAB. The computer will check certain fields to determine if there are any issues that need to be addressed. if no problems were found, close the Check Case window. You are now ready to save the case by clicking on the Save the Case icon on the FACS tool bar and check for edits. Today you have learned how to code a weekly authorization. We hope it was helpful.
