DEMARIA W. [MUSIC PLAYS] [NO AUDIO] Lori W. Child Welfare Assistant Lori: Demaria is eighth grade this year, put in the DHS custody since he's been 5 years old. He is very athletic. He plays basketball. He's point guard. He actually played football this season. He's very good in school. His favorite subject is history. He is very outgoing at school, makes friends very easily. [NO AUDIO] Demaria W. 14 years old Demaria: I like sports, listen to music, play basketball. I don't know, basketball means to me that it's getting the ball in the hoop, the circle, the goal. It's very important to me. It's a real tough sport. You've got to be strong. Lori: He's actually had one adoptive placement and that adoptive placement didn't work out well but Demaria has not let that set him back. He's very interested in getting adopted. He's stated that he wants a home that is in the city. He's not too much of a rural person. Demaria: I want a family that knows what I feel, be there for me, I guess. That's important to me. Lori: Demaria stated that he would be very relieved to be adopted. I asked him what that meant as far as being relieved. That he would be very joyous, happy, that finally he would have a forever home. Demaria: I'm awesome. You won't regret having me. Lori: He is at the age now that a family can add positive values to his life. He wants to do a lot of things in his life but he's kind of unsure of what to do and what he wants to do. Right now he did voice that he wants a two-parent family. We talked a lot about the things that D. has not been able to do in his life. He wants to travel. He's not sure what he wants to do after high school so these are a lot of things right now as a 14-year-old in the eighth grade that would help D. out a lot at this point in his life. Demaria: Adopt me. I'm awesome. [NO AUDIO] For more information about adopting Demaria W.
