NICHOLAS J. [MUSIC PLAYS] [NO AUDIO] Scott S. Adoption Transition Unit Specialist Scott: Nicholas is 13; he's about to be 14. Nicholas' favorite thing to do is ride on his motorbike and his bicycle. He's been definitely a full-throttle kid. He loves to play outside, very adventurous. Rolling skating is something he's getting into. He's very active. [NO AUDIO] Nicholas J. Age 13 Nicholas: I like to play football and basketball. I like to roller skate and speed skate. Scott: One of the awesome things about Nicholas is the fun-loving side of him. He loves to go out. He's not really intimidated. He likes to go out and talk to people. He doesn't mind going out and playing around and really getting meet people. Those are one of the really cool things about Nicholas. He hasn't got to do a lot of stuff like this. I think seeing the other kids that are here and then meeting some of the Thunder players and being in this environment, he's very excited about this. I'm hoping, as his worker, that this is going to be a good turning point for him to be more open-minded to a possibility there'd be a family out there that will want to connect with him. Nicholas: It was fun. I got to meet the people: Serge Ibaka and Amari. Got my autograph on my shirt. I got Thunder stuff. It was pretty awesome to get that. Scott: I think for Nicholas adoption would mean a permanent place, a place where he could be. That has really helped him in the last couple of years being with his current foster mom. She's provided that stability for him. We want to find a permanent home for him in order to have that stability. That's what he needs in order to really be successful. Nicholas: Adoption is important to me. I like to meet new people. I like to talk to people about my life, so I can have a loving family and be with them as long as I live. Scott: I think for Nicholas, specifically, he needs that permanency. He did struggle when he was younger. I think having that home that's stable, that's permanent is going to help him move forward into adulthood to develop to be a really well-rounded person, a very stable person. That's what we want for him. We want him, during these formative years ... He's in junior high. He's middle-school age. He needs a lot of help being pointed in the right direction. We want a family that's really going to invest in him for his future. Nicholas is right on the edge of becoming a teenager. He's in a really formative state. He needs a family. He needs a family that's going to step in and provide role models for him, is going to provide ... I keep using the word stability, but it's so huge. If you're a family that's interested in a kid who has a lot of energy in a good way, Nicholas is your guy. Nicholas is a guy who's got a bright future with the right family coming behind him and really helping him out. He is going to be an excellent young man.
