CHILDREN’S HEALTH CARE COVERAGE: GROUP COVERAGE One potential health care coverage option for your child is group coverage. Group coverage can be an employer-sponsored plan or through a union or church-sponsored plan. Group coverage can be offered as a family plan or to an employee with dependants. You can check with your employer or union to get information on availability, cost and coverage options. Be sure to bring your group coverage information to any court hearing about child support. Oklahoma Child Support Services is required to send your employer a National Medical Support Notice within two business days after the OCSS is notified that you have gone to work for your employer. The National Medical Support Notice is a standardized form that all states use and is considered to be a qualified medical child support order. By law, employers and insurers must comply with the National Medical Support Notice. As a parent, you are responsible for enrolling your child if you have group coverage available and are ordered to provide group coverage in your child support order. If you have any questions, call OCSS at 1-800-522-2922. Request that your local child support office contact you about the terms of your child support order and your child's health care options. They can review your order and help you determine if you have any other options for providing coverage.
