CHILDREN’S HEALTH CARE COVERAGE: PRIVATE COVERAGE One potential health care coverage option for your child is private coverage. For more information about private coverage providers, visit www.healthcare.gov. By answering a few simple questions, you can find out about private coverage providers in your zip code. For additional information, you can also call the Oklahoma Insurance Department or OID at 1-800-522-0071 for in-state customers. You can also visit the Oklahoma Consumer Assistance Program website at www.ok.gov/oid. If you or your child's pre-existing conditions cause you difficulty in obtaining health insurance, you may qualify for a high risk pool. High risk pools are a coverage option, not public coverage and there is no minimum income qualification required. But, you will be charged a premium to enroll your child in this type of coverage. There are two options: the Oklahoma High Risk Pool and the Oklahoma Temporary High Risk Pool. The Oklahoma High Risk Pool coverage is geared towards individuals who have had coverage for the last six months. The Oklahoma Temporary High Risk Pool coverage is geared towards individuals who have not had coverage for the last six months. For details, visit www.bcbsok.com/ghrp or call the High Risk Pool Administrator at 1-877-885-3717 to determine if one of these options works for you or your child. Be sure to bring your private health care coverage information to any court hearing about child support.
