CHILDREN’S HEALTH CARE COVERAGE: PUBLIC COVERAGE AND PREMIUM ASSISTANCE If you don't have any health insurance options available to you, or if none of the options will meet your children's health care needs, your children may qualify for government-sponsored health care through the SoonerCare program or a premium assistance program like Insure Oklahoma. SoonerCare, Oklahoma's Medicaid Program, is a health coverage program jointly funded by the federal and state government. SoonerCare helps pay part or all medical bills for many people who can't afford to pay them. The Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) is the state agency that administers SoonerCare and determines financial eligibility for the program. To qualify for SoonerCare you must reside in Oklahoma. You must be a U.S. citizen or qualified alien. You must also meet financial income and resources standards in certain categories to qualify for SoonerCare. You can apply online at: www.okhca.org or you can call the SoonerCare Helpline at 1-800-967-7767 for more information. Children who do not otherwise qualify for SoonerCare may be eligible for Insure Oklahoma. Insure Oklahoma offers an Employer Sponsored Insurance Plan that provides employers with premium subsidies to help buy health insurance for low-to-moderate income employees. Insure Oklahoma also provides an Individual Plan to help families gain access to an affordable health care option. Visit www.insureoklahoma.org for more information. Be sure to bring your SoonerCare or Insure Oklahoma information to any court hearing about child support.
